BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Somali Community Concern (SCC) is defined as voluntary, non-governmental, non-political, non-partisan and non profit making organization, flexible and committed to provide programs answering to the community’s basic needs relevant on the current situation in Somalia. SCC is open to all without distinction of origin, race, color or creed, in accordance with the purpose of SCC inception and its existence. SCC is mandated to carry out activities reflecting to its mission, goals and vision, for social development. The NGO is entitled to improve the quality of education, create chances to educate more students and generate peace and development through education. STRATEGIC PLANNING (2008 – 2010)
SCC strategic plan is developed in every tree years to direct the organization and define strategies that SCC will use to reach its goals. The methods used to conduct SCC strategic plan include analyzing and examining the organization’s present situation, goals, objectives and its vision of the future. The outcomes and benefits after the strategic workshop include framework for making decisions and reacting to change in the operating environs, by outlining concrete programs and activities through which SCC will achieve in its objectives. The aim of the strategic plan was to focus on strength, weakness, opportunities and threats of the organization’s sectoral and management involvement and expertise, resource allocations, policy setting and practices, organizational performance, action plan and budget assumptions for the coming three years. SCC OVERALL OBJECTIVES
  • To conduct in-service trainings for primary & secondary teachers on upgrading their quality and skills in teaching methodologies through providing seminars and workshops for the Benadir, Middle Shabelle, lower Shabelle and Galgadud regions.
  • To establish and rehabilitate primary and secondary schools in the targeted areas of Galgadud, Middle Shabelle, lower Shabelle and Benadir regions.
    To build the capacity of Somali traditional & religious leaders in the field of leadership and management skills through conducting trainings and workshops.
  • To improve community awareness on HIV/AIDS & FGM through organizing seminars, workshops, posters, signboards and brochures.
    To respond emergency humanitarian situation caused by wars, floods, droughts, fire, tsunami and/or stormy rains.
  • To advocate better and preserved of human rights standard in Somalia, particularly women and children.
  • To conduct need assessment surveys for IDPs, Security, community livelihood condition involving education, health, water and social welfare for all Somali regions.
  • To conduct awareness raising/trainings workshops on peace building & conflict resolution for Somali institutions, leaders, decision makers and bring together the opposing parties.
  • To advocacy environmental through organizing meetings, forums and awareness-raising to minimize hazardous of environmental degradation to the sea, land and air and protect human life.
  • To secure and find solution in food circumstances particularly riverine areas in south central Somalia to ensure the livelihood for the communities.
