The most important step to success in anything is the first step. If you don’t begin, you won’t get anywhere.
As we know from Lao-tzu: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”.
This is the first article in a series on beginning your path to financial success. Always remember that finances often seem more complex than they really are. It’s important to know that you control your financial future.
You can choose to be financially free.
Through this series, if you have any questions or thoughts, you can always reach out to me. I’ll respond. I promise.
Sometimes asking specific questions is the best way of learning.
Don’t Get Discouraged
Once you figure out exactly where you are with your finances, you may feel great, or you may feel like giving up.
It really doesn’t matter how deep of a hole you are in, you can always get out of it.
If you stay motivated, you can accomplish things that you never thought were possible.
This journey really does begin with one step and continues one step at a time.
Don’t get discouraged, don’t lose your motivation.
The Slight Edge
Jeff Olson wrote a great book: The Slight Edge.
The main focus of The Slight Edge is this: we can accomplish huge things, one small step at a time. This is the key to financial success.
These baby steps will add up like a snowball collecting rolling down a hill and ultimately causing a huge avalanche.
You will be pleasantly surprised with the massive results you can achieve by taking one step at a time.

Let’s Get Started
The following series of mini blogs will point you in the right direction.
In the future, it may be a good idea to come back to this series for a refresher.
The biggest take away from this article is that getting started is the most important step.
You have already started by reading this first article and deciding you want to do something about your situation.
Do something today that gets you towards your financial goals.
If you really are just starting then that “something” may be as simple as creating financial goals, but the important thing is this: GET STARTED!
