Why 25 blogs? Why not 10? Or less? Isn’t 25 way too many? No, it’s not.
Am I really supposed to subscribe to 25 different blogs? Well, the short answer is yes.
I guess the long answer is also yes, and here’s why: subscribing to a website is meant to be a way for you to see an email, briefly decide whether you want to open it, and either read it or delete it.
The entire point of subscribing is to separate what you do and don’t want to read.
So I am subscribed to all of these blogs, but that doesn’t mean I read every post. These are 25 extremely valuable productivity blogs that I highly recommend. It took me weeks to compile and write this list. A lot of thought went into it, so carefully consider each individual blog.
I even put them in alphabetical order for you OCD (CDO, anyone??) types…

A well laid out blog with all kinds of articles on improving your life. Tim is a life coach and he writes about life coaching quite a bit. He also writes research-based articles on things like meditation, happiness, motivation and stress management – to name a few. He gives you four free books for subscribing to his list, and it’s a valuable.

2. Aha! Now
Read the Blog
Aha! Now is more than just a blog, it’s a community. Harleena runs the blog, though she has many writers. It’s full of awesome, inspirational, motivational content on self improvement, overcoming struggles and goal setting, among all kinds of other things.

3. Asian Efficiency

Geared towards email efficiency, apps, and technology. There are some seriously detailed articles here, and it’s easy to spend a few hours reading through them, so watch out! I love their podcast as well, so check that out.

4. Barking Up the Wrong Tree

This blog is all about the content. You’ll notice that, because it’s very minimalistic. All you can do is read articles…and read articles — outstanding articles. I love to read through the archives and find great older posts that I haven’t read.

I’ve been reading this blog for years! Whether you consider yourself a minimalist or not, this blog is worth reading. Joshua goes over a lot of mindset issues, as well as the basics of minimalism and how to get more out of life with less.

6. Chief Happiness Officer Blog
Read the Blog
All kinds of awesome articles on being happy and living a calmer, yet more productive life. This is a great blog if you’re not happy with your current life or job. His articles (and his book) will show you how to be happy all the time, not just on the weekends.

Everything you need to know about habits. Which habits to implement, how to organize them, and how to actually make them stick. He has a great free book that you can get when you subscribe to his newsletter!

8. Genius Types
There are some great articles on productivity here. Brian is a marketing guy, so many of the articles lean in that direction, but even if you’re not a blogger who’s into marketing, you’ll get a lot out of this one.

This website is a conglomeration of articles from all over. I’ve been featured with my article on productivity books, and that’s actually how I heard about it. Don’t mind the name – anyone can get something out of this blog.

10. Impossible

Impossible is for big thinkers who want to push their limits. Joel writes about breaking boundaries in life and eliminating excuses. Warning: He does require you to take a cold shower as an initiation to his blog. This stresses the importance of stepping outside of your comfort zone.

11. James Clear
Read the Blog
James Clear is one of my top three favorite writers on productivity. He writes research-backed articles on building positive habits, lifting weights and general productivity. James often pulls out old studies and stories and shows what we can learn from them.

12. LifeHack
Read the Blog
LifeHack if full of contributors, and I’m one of them, but their editors only approve the good stuff. This blog is mostly filled with great lists on all kinds of topics, but their productivity articles are the best, in my opinion.

Live Your Legend is all about living life to the fullest, and living the life you were meant to live. It covers topics like finding more time, and doing the work you love. It’s a great place for overachievers and optimists. I am both!

14. Marc and Angel Hack Life

Mark and Angel are a couple who have written hundreds of posts, mostly on life choices, positive thinking and being happy. I love how they shift people’s paradigm and thinking. They’re both life coaches, so they have an optimistic, entrepreneurial view on life.

15. Mark Manson
Read the Blog
Mark writes very high quality stuff. His articles vary in length, but even the longest ones are easy to read, because he’s an entertaining writer. He does have a bit of a potty mouth, but as long as that doesn’t bother you, this is a must read. This is also one of my top three.

Michael Hyatt is the former Chairman and CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers. He has an awesome blog and podcast, This is Your Life. His content is directed towards entrepreneurs and bloggers, but it applies to everyone.

Read the Blog
Paid to Exist shows you how to “live and work on your own terms.” It’s all about living the best, most productive and efficient life possible. This blog is also geared towards entrepreneurs, but it applies to anyone who wants to get the most out of their life. Language warning on this blog as well.

18. Penelope Trunk

Penelope is a very successful writer, life coach and businesswoman. She has founded four successful startups and she writes on all kinds of topics. I love her, because she will talk about anything…literally. Sometimes the topics may make you feel awkward, but it’s ok to step outside your comfort zone. I will warn you, she is much more negative than I generally prefer, but again, I think balance and stepping out of your comfort zone is important. Even my favorite post below is about her hating someone I like, but it’s just an interesting perspective, and good time management tips.

19. Positivity Blog

In contrast to #17, The Positivity Blog is exactly that — a blog for optimists, like myself. I love it. I love seeing Henrik’s posts in my inbox. They can even brighten my day when I’m not feeling well. He writes about general living, thinking, habits, relationships and several other productivity topics. His articles are usually brief, and often list posts.

20. Ryan Holiday
Read the Blog
Ryan has an awesome blog with well written articles on life. Some are just his thoughts and meditations on things, but many are about how to live a better life and get more done. He writes about reading quite a bit, which leads me to my favorite post. The post below changed my view on reading and has helped me read much more!

He’s a veteran in the productivity blogging world. He’s been blogging since 2004, and has a huge following. His archives are full of pure gold, so check them out. Steve gets deep with his topics, and he talks about ideas that I had never thought of. He will make you think.

Steven deals mostly with your thought process and choices. He writes on all kinds of topics though, including relationships, health, spirituality and business. His writing helps you live a better life overall, and I’m a fan of that.

23. Tim Ferriss

I’ve been a fan of Tim Ferriss ever since I read The Four Hour Workweek. His podcast is awesome, his TV show is amazing, and his blog has some pure gold. There is a lot of quite vulgar language on his show, and surrounding most anything he does, so be aware of that. But if you can get past that, his content is truly helpful for life in general.

24. Wait But Why

I’ve only recently subscribed to this blog, but I love the content. The articles are extremely long sometimes, but extremely interesting. Tim only writes when he has something to say, hence the tagline “new post every sometimes,” but when he does write it’s worth reading. He writes on everything from procrastination to relationships to science, and it’s all good. I highly recommend this one.

25. Zen Habits

I’ve literally been reading Zen Habits for about seven years, which isn’t long after it came out. This is one of the founding blogs on minimalism, and Leo practices what he preaches. His insights and ideas are awesome. His book The Power of Less is awesome. If you haven’t guessed by now, this is the final one of my top three. Honestly, this is one of the most difficult blogs for me to narrow down one favorite post — even narrowing to just two was difficult, so I didn’t. Here are a bunch of amazing posts from Zen Habits.
